Urquhart Mill Black Isle Holidays

Welcome to Urquhart Mill

Urquhart Mill is situated on the edge of a farm 12 miles from Inverness, 3 miles from Conon Bridge and 6 miles from Dingwall. We are in a private site on the edge of a wood with your own driveway and off road parking for 3 cars.

Our intention has been to provide luxurious and relaxing breaks in the Highlands throughout the year - including Christmas and New Year.

The Mill was newly built in 2004 and designed to maximise on the surrounding nature and views. The are 4 bedrooms that can accommodate up to 6 people plus there is a lovely big cot available with mattress. We also have a high chair for smaller guests.

We like to stay in The Mill when we have time so have tried to make the house a home from home. You will find a very well equipped kitchen and for your arrival we always have milk, tea, coffee, biscuits, salt and pepper. The kitchen is always stocked with olive oil, various sauces and you may even find the odd bottle of gin/wine if you are lucky! The utility room is fully equipped also with various cleaning items, bin liners, lenor, j clothes and so on.

Sorry, no pets allowed.
Smoking outside only please!

From the house you can see stunning views of Ben Wyvis mountain and the Cromarty Firth. The garden area is large and open to the woods. It is safe for children playing and we have eating and lounging garden furniture.

Being open all year, you can choose to take in the long summer evenings, or a chance to see the Northern Lights in the winter.

We hope to be able to welcome you to "The Mill" to enjoy some Highland hospitality - we have visitors who return each year to stay here and will endeavour to make your visit want you to come back again and again.

  • BlackIsle
Situated on the Black Isle, a peninsular noted for its attractive fishing villages and unspoilt countryside just north of Inverness, the mill is ideally located for exploring the whole of the Highland region. There is plenty to see and do in thew immediate area. Golf, mountain biking, horse riding, sailing, canoeing, hill walking and mountain climbing are all local pastimes. Boat trips to view the dolphins, seals and vast array of seabirds closer to hand are also available nearby. The pretty coastal towns and fishing villages dotted around the Black Isle are truly charming. Urquhart Mill is only 15 minutes' drive from Inverness, the Highland capital city.
  • Do and see
The immediate area is a bird watcher's delight. Rare red kite wheel overhead and buzzards, swallows and house martins are all regularly seen. Backing onto open woodland, the occasional Roe Deer can be seen in the early morning and evening. The house is set in large country gardens, with mature trees and shrubs and plenty of lawned area for children to run around and explore. The outdoor dining table and chairs provide a welcoming spot to sit and admire the superb views across the water to the hills beyond. The Cromarty Firth is also noted for its resident bottle nosed dolphins that are frequently spotted along this shoreline.

My family and I have stayed at this property for 4 times now and each time we enjoy it more - the house is great and the little extra touches make it special. the new sofas in the family room are ideal for relaxing after a day out in the highlands. We will return to this house again and again as it provides us with everything we need for a comfortable, warm and welcoming holiday base.
