Do and See
The Highlands offer a wealth of activities ranging from the sedate to the more adventurous, and Urquhart Mill is the ideal location to make the most of this.

Discover the dolphins in the nearby Moray Firth - there are trips to view the dolphins from nearby Cromarty and from Inverness. Dolphin watching has become a major attraction in the region and an experience unlikely to be forgotten!

The surrounding villages offer excellent amenities as well as some outstanding leisure activities such as walking, cycling, pony trekking, quad biking, fishing, bird watching, golfing, go-karting and paintballing.

In the winter, you are only an hours drive from Aviemore and there excellent skiing facilities.

The Black Isle brewery is only a few miles away and offers a tour of their brewery and a chance to sample some of the finest, organic ales in the country.

If your taste is more for the water of life, then Glen Ord Distillery offers a chance to see whisky in the making and perhaps try a wee dram too.

The Black Isle Info website offers a lot of information about the area, local communities and activities here.

The Black Isle Wildlife and Country Park offers the chance to feed the friendly ducks, geese and swans on the many ponds. Make contact with our friendly goats and stroke the cuddly rabbits. See the pot-bellied pigs, rare sheep and cattle.

The Cromarty Courthouse is an interesting visit and an insight into the regions past. Cromarty is also the birth place of Hugh Miller, the famous geologist and you can visit his cottage.

Loch Ness is only a few miles away. Cruises run from Inverness that take in the Caledonian Canal, Loch Ness, Urquhart Castle and the chance to see the monster itself!

If you fancy a look at the West Coast, less than an hour away is the fishing village of Ullapool, the drive takes in some beautiful landscape and the village has summer time cruises and many fine restaurants.

We live further up the coast from Ullapool in the village of Achiltibuie, where the local smoke house and hydropodicum offer a chance to see some amazing plants and growing techniques and a traditional smoke house.

If you are interested in staying on the West Coast we have cottages to let in Achiltibuie and would be happy to welcome you. See further information at our sister site http://www.badenscallie-self-catering.com/.

We are sure you'll never be stuck for things to do when you visit...
